  1. Hello Sudeisy,

If you are referring to the actual testing centers, you can find that information by clicking the link above which says:

To Find The Testing Center In Your Area, Click Here

    I hope that helps.

    Have An Excellent Day

  2. Hello Meron,

I am not in any way affiliated with either the organization that created and administers the exam nor any of the testing centers. Therefore I can not comment on why you did not receive the results.

They should have been sent to the email that you provided approximately 3 weeks after the exam.

The best advice that I can give is to contact the testing center that you took the exam at, and ask them for assistance.

    Good Luck

  3. Hello my name is Meron. I took tofel exam in addis abeba, ethiopia test centre B006 with registration number 1960729 in April first, but I didn’t get my result.what is the problem? How and when can I get it? Please help me with this problem. Thank you.

  4. Hello Dejene,

    Thanks for the message.

Unfortunately I can not give you any information about that as neither I nor my website are in any way associated with the organization that created or administers the exam.

However, I believe that the results should have been emailed to whatever email address you gave when registering for the exam.

But if the results have not been emailed to you, then the best idea to find out the answer to your question is to speak to the people at the testing center where you took the exam.

    Good Luck

  5. It has been more than 7 weeks since I took the Toefl test given on April 1 2017. But I haven’t recieved my scores yet. What is the problem? And how can I solve it ? Thank you.

  6. Greetings Elias,

    Thank you for the message.

First of all, I need to say that I am in no way affiliated with the organization that created and administers the exam, nor am I affiliated with any of the testing centers.

That being said, I can not say for sure why you haven’t received any confirmation as I do not know the standard procedure for the Paper-Based Test.

However, I would suggest contacting the testing center that you will be taking the exam at. They should be able to give you the information that you are looking for.

Good Luck, and Have An Excellent Day!

  7. Hello Hermela,

Thank you for your kind reply. I am glad that the comments were helpful.

If there is anything else that I can help you with, let me know. I am always happy to help when I am able.

    Have An Excellent Day!

  8. Hello james Cote

I have got all the information i need about toefl exam from your detailed replies to various questions raised by different people. I really appreciate all your effort to help everyone. Can’t pass without saying thankyou 🙂

  9. hello
I have registered for the paper based toefl test for the april 1 2017 via mail from addis but i havent got any confirmation or study material by both mail and email so what can i do how can i know they have accepted my form?

  10. Thank you for the message.

That is a very good question. As I am not a college adviser, my advice can not be taken as professional advice, but as a TOEFL professional I can put forward some ideas that may help you answer that question for yourself.

First of all, I don’t think that there are any colleges in the world that would deny your application because you did not have the TOEFL scores. Instead, after looking at your application, they would then tell you if you needed the TOEFL or some other exam, as not all Universities accept the TOEFL but use some other exam.

And it is for this last reason that, IN MY PERSONAL OPINION, it would not be the best idea to take the exam before applying. It certainly wouldn’t hurt, but it is a bit expensive, so it would be a shame to spend the time and money on the exam only to find that it is not accepted at the University that you are applying to.

Ultimately, I think the best idea is to contact the admissions office for the Universities that you want to apply to, and ask them the same question that you posed to me. They will be able to give you a definitive answer, whereas, I can really only speculate based upon information that has been given to me by students that I have coached in the past.

I hope that this helps. Let me know if there is anything else that I can assist you with, as I am always happy to help when I am able?

    Have An Excellent Day!

  11. Hello. Should I register for TOEFL before I apply to college? . Becausr if I designate colleges to receive my exam results before even applyingú to them, they might discard it. So how can I take the exam early but send universities my exam results when I appy?

  12. Greetings Beka,

    Thank you for your message.

You can pay for the exam on-line, but I imagine from your message, that you have already tried that, according to your reference to “necessary fields”.

However, the official website makes registering for the exam, far more difficult than necessary.

This is why I recommend registering directly at the testing center that you will be taking the exam at. This way, not only will you be able to pay in your local currency, but will also be dealing with with an actual person who can answer many of your questions about the exam procedures.

If you do not know what testing center you will take the exam at, you can find information that information by clicking the link above that says:

To Find The Testing Center In Your Area, Click Here

I hope that helps. Good Luck!

    Have An Excellent Day,

    Claude

  13. Greetings Deborah,

    Thank you for the message.

That information is unique to each testing center, but in most places the exam starts somewhere betweeen 8:00 – 10:00 am.

However, you will have to confirm the time with the testing center where you are registered.

If you have not yet chosen a testing center, you can get that information by clicking the link above that says…

“To Find The Testing Center In Your Area – Click Here”

Or just click this link: http://www.toefl.givemesomeenglish.com/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations-by-country-letter-e/ethiopia-toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-centers-in-ethiopia/

I hope that this helps. Let me know if there is anything else that I can assist you with. I am always happy to help when I am able.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  14. Greetings Mehammed,

    Thank you for the message.

You can register on-line with a credit card, but I do not recommend it. I suggest that you register at the testing center where you will be taking the exam. In this way, you will be dealing with an actual human being who can answer many of the questions that you may have.

You can find the testing centers in your area by clicking the link above which say:

“To Find The TOEFL Testing Center In Your Area, Click Here

    Or just click this link:

I hope that this helps. Let me know if there is anything else that I can do for you.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  15. Greetings Zewdu,

    Thank you for the message.

First of all, I need you to know that I am in no way affiliated with the organization that created and administers the exam, or with any of the testing centers throughout the world. I am just one man who helps people prepare for the exam.

As far as your situation, you do not receive any papers in the mail. Even though the paper-based test is that… paper-based, you still need to take the exam at the testing-center. Otherwise people would be selling the test throughout the world.

As for saying that you and your friend were registered, did you register on-line with the official website, or did you register somewhere else? And also, did you already pay any money to be registered?

It has also been my experience from continually updating the testing dates and locations for all the countries around the world, that the official site advertises testing dates for the Paper-Based exam, but then does not list any actual locations for the exam. The paper-based version is only available in areas where there may not be an internet connection, and it seems that the Paper-based version will not be available as soon as they can phase it out completely, so unfortunately there is almost no support for it.

These are just observations – nothing of which I have any control over.

But as for registering, if you never paid any money to anyone, then you were not actually registered. It is not possible to register without first paying for the exam. And difficulties and confusing situations like this one is exactly the reason why I tell people to NOT register on-line, but to register directly at the testing center with an actual human being.

I hope that this helps. If there is anything else that I can help you with, then please let me know. I am always happy to help when I am able.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    _C.

  16. Greetings,
My name is Zewdu from Ethiopia. Including me and my friends were registered for the paper based TOEFL exam which we are expected to avail our self on April 23/2016 at Addis Ababa University to take the exam, according to the schedule. However, we couldn’t receive any document from yourside perior to the exam through our address on top of that even though we came to the venue on April 23, no exam and the coordinator told us that he don’t any thing about the exam on this date. Please we want to know what happened and what we should do.

  17. Greetings Kebede,

    Thanks for your message.

First of all, you will not receive any materials for the exam. The exam is conducted at the specific testing center that you would have had to chose in order to finish your registration process.

To get some more information, I would suggest contacting the testing center that you chose for the exam.

Let me know if you have any further questions. I am always happy to help when I can.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  18. Hello
I have registered for the TOEFL test of test date April09,2016. But i still haven’t gotten any materials and test papers sent via my address. what should i do?

  19. Great! Let me know if there is anything else I can help with. I’m always happy to help when I am able.

    -C.

  20. I would like to take the exam so as you mentioned earlier I’m going to check on those locations so how can I get materials which help me to get prepared for the exam thanks

  21. Greetings Abel,

    Thanks for the message.

I’m not sure what information you are referring to which you say is contradictory on my website. I do however know that the official website says that “walk-in” registrations are not available as there is a cut-off period before the exam when it is not possible to register anymore. So I believe that what they are referring to is “walking in” on the same day as the exam without registering ahead of time.

If you go to the testing center in your area, you will be able to register there, but it has to be done with plenty of time before the exam. Not only because of the cut-off period, but also due to the fact that there are only a certain number of people who can test on each date so sometimes the registration for a specific date will fill up before the cut-off period.

In the time since you originally sent this message, I have created a page that lists the testing centers in Ethiopia. You can access that page by clicking the link which says,

“To Find The TOEFL Testing Center In Your Area, Click This Link”

Or by clicking the link below:

    http://www.toefl.givemesomeenglish.com/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations-by-country-letter-e/ethiopia-toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-centers-in-ethiopia/

I’m sure that they will be able to help you with the registration process. (I would be very surprised to hear if they couldn’t.)

I hope this helps and that I have comprehended your message clearly. If you still find there to be a discrepancy between anything on this site and on the official site, please let me know by giving me a link to the page on the official website so that I can make sure that everything is correct. My mission is to make the whole process of taking the TOEFL easier, rather than more confusing. For this reason, I appreciate your message.

Let me kow if there is anything else that I can help you with.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

P.S. And I also appreciate the very polite way in which you offered your criticism.

  22. Greetings Alex,

    Thanks for the message.

Unfortunately, I’m not exactly sure what you mean by “the city code”.

But if this has something to do with finding your testing center, you can check the link that says,

“To Find The Testing Center In Your Area, Click Here”

Or by clicking the link below:

    http://www.toefl.givemesomeenglish.com/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations-by-country-letter-e/ethiopia-toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-centers-in-ethiopia/

I hope that this helps. Let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  23. Greetings,

I’ve found the information you’ve given here contradictory to the information provided in the official website. Their website clearly states that walk-in registrations at test centers aren’t available. So, what other ways are there for registration without having to pay via credit cards or the other forms listed that aren’t usually available to the average Ethiopian?

  24. Greetings Misikir,

This is the information on the front page of the online registration form:

“…Pay with a credit/debit card: American Express®, Discover®, JCB®, MasterCard® or VISA®. You can also use a PayPal® account, or an electronic check (e-check) if you have a bank account in the United States or its territories.
Payment methods are subject to change without notice….”

So as far as I understand, it is not possible to pay with a foreign bank.

If you do not have a credit / debit card that you can use, then I would suggest going to the TOEFL testing center that you will taking the exam at. You should be able to register there and be able to pay cash. Of course this is not 100% confirmed information, as things may be different from one country to the next, but I have never heard of any testing center which did not also allow someone to register there and pay in cash.

To find the testing center (if you haven’t already done that) you can click this link:

    http://www.toefl.givemesomeenglish.com/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations-by-country-letter-e/ethiopia-toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-centers-in-ethiopia/

Or the link above that says:

“To Find The Testing Center In Your Area, Click Here.”

    I hope that this helps.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

P.S. Don’t forget to register early. Testing dates fill up quick and there are late fees for registering late.

  25. Hello there!
I have tried to make an online application for Toefl exam registration and I did everything and filled up the necessary information, but finally on the payment request part it is asking to indicate whether electronically billing system or U.S bank. Here in Ethiopia I don’t have access for that would you please indicate me the way I can make payment directly through Ethiopian Banks or other way.
    Regards!

  26. Greetings Nahom,

Thank you for the message, and thank you for your patience in waiting for my reply.

Unfortunately the 19th of September is already filled up. And even if I had responded to you on the same day as you sent me the message, it would not have made a difference as it was already filled up then as well.

From what I’ve noticed, the testing dates for Ethiopia usually fill up quite quickly and are usually filled up at least a month into the future.

This is why I recommend preparing at least 3 months in advance. For more information about that, you can read this blog post:

    http://www.blog.givemesomeenglish.com/when-to-start-preparing-for-the-toefl-how-much-time-one-needs-to-prepare/

In addition, I have just updated the testing dates and locations, and I have also added a page which lists the testing centers in your area.

I would highly suggest visiting the testing center as they can give you more information than I can write in this comment. As for the second and third sentence in your message, I am really not sure what you mean, but hopefully the blog post (and other posts about the TOEFL exam) & the information about testing centers will help you in the way you need.

To access the page for the testing centers, click the link below:

    http://www.toefl.givemesomeenglish.com/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations-by-country-letter-e/ethiopia-toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-centers-in-ethiopia/

Or click the link above which says, “To Find The Testing Centers In Your Area, Click Here”

If there is anything else that I can help with, let me know.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  27. Greetings Dawit,

    Thank you for the message.

The “basic” information that you are asking about is not so simple as what you are asking about would take up an entire text book to cover.

However, I can definitely start you on the right path.

My first suggestion is to read this blog post:

    http://www.blog.givemesomeenglish.com/the-most-important-thing-to-know-about-the-toefl-ibt-exam/

…and the other related posts about the exam.

That will at least give you a better idea of what you need to learn.

If there is anything else that I can help you with, please let me know.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  28. Greetings Dawit,

Thank you for your message, and thank you for your patience in returning your message.

First of all, I have updated the TOEFL testing dates and locations for Addis Ababa. I have also added a page which lists the testing centers for the Exam.

You can access that page by clicking the link above which says, “To Find The Testing Centers In Your Area, Click Here”

Or you can use this link:

    http://www.toefl.givemesomeenglish.com/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-dates-and-locations-by-country-letter-e/ethiopia-toefl-testing-dates-and-locations/toefl-testing-centers-in-ethiopia/

As for tips to pass the exam, the first thing I would recommend is to read this article:

    http://www.blog.givemesomeenglish.com/the-most-important-thing-to-know-about-the-toefl-ibt-exam/

…and the other articles about the TOEFL exam. Of course, subscribe to the blog so you can get further tips.

But I would also highly recommend visiting the testing center as they usually also have courses on TOEFL preparation.

If you do not have to take the exam for a while, then let me know as I am also developing a training course for the TOEFL, but it is still in development.

If there is anything else that I can help you with, please let me know.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  29. I would like to know how i could take the TOFEL Examination in addis ababa areas, and the tips i would use to pass the exam. THANKS

  30. I wanted to know the basic information(details) for taking the TOFEL Exam, & how to prepare. Thanks,

  31. I’m from Ethiopia and I want to take my TOEFL test on sep19 but I’m still buffing about the registration. I once asked about it it he told me that some one Whois in Europe or US. But don’t know someone who is in the US, so I am waiting for your advice

  32. Greetings Jbril,

Thank you for passing that information along. I get a lot of people asking about that. I hope that this will help some people.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C

  33. Greetings Rahwa,

    Thank you for the message.

I have just updated the testing dates according to the information provided by ETS, and there are indeed many dates available in the month of November.

If you should happen to know an official testing center there in Ethiopia, there are certainly a lot of people asking for that information. If you could post it in a reply, that would be great.

Otherwise, I hope that information provided in the other comments is helpful for you as well.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  34. Greetings Zekarias,

    Thank you for the message.

There is indeed a way to register without a card. You can register by paying cash at the testing center that you will be taking the exam at.

To find out where that testing center may be, please refer to some of the other comments and answers on this page.

I hope that this helps you.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  35. Greetings Sholo,

Thank you for the message. As your question is almost identical to others that people have asked, please refer to the answers I have given to Ayan, Leah, or Dere, in the comments on this page.

The answers I have given them, should also answer your question.

    I hope that this helps.

    Have An Excellent Day!

    -C

  36. Hello Leah,

Thank you for your patience in waiting for my response. As far as where to register, you can do so on-line if you have a credit or debit card. Once you choose a date, then the website will provide you with the contact information for the various testing locations.

The other option is to visit any reputable English language school or a University and inquire at either of those places. If they themselves are not a testing center, they will probably know where one is and how to register.

    I hope this helps.

    Have An Excellent Day!

    -C

  37. Hello Dere,

As far as the exact testing centers are concerned, ETS (the organization which creates and gives the exam) does not provide that information until one actually starts the application process.

If you are in Addis Ababa, then I suggest visiting either a reputable English language school or a University and inquire there about taking the TOEFL exam. Both of those types of locations usually have information about that.

If you know when you would like to take the exam and you are able to register on-line with a credit or debit card, then you can click the link on this page above which says: “To Register for the TOEFL ibt Exam, Click Here”

Once you choose a date, you will be provided with the contact information for the different testing centers in your area.

As far as the price: As of the information provided by ETS today, the price is $170 American dollars.

    I hope that this helps.

    Have An Excellent Day!

    -C

  38. Hello,

I am planning to take the exam. Would you forward me to contact any officials?

    Thanks

  39. Hello Ayan,

The TOEFL iBT is an on-line exam, however, it is necessary to go to an official testing center to take the exam in their facility.

To find out the testing facilities near you, the best idea is to go to either a University or a reputable language and inquire there. Either of those places can usually help you.

Since I get a lot of questions about where to take the test, I will be publishing a post about how to find a testing center near you very soon. But you should be able to find the info at either of the places I mentioned.

If that doesn’t help, let me know and I will see if I can assist you further.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    C.

  40. I would like to take TOEFL exam. I am now in Somalia. Can I take the exam online?. Thanks

  41. Greetings Aman,

The cost of the TOEFL exam in Ethiopia is $170 in US Dollars.

    -C

  42. Greetings Lalissa,

My apologies for not returning your message earlier. I’m not exactly sure how to respond, as your message is not really a question.

However, if you still want to take the exam, I have updated the Dates and Location information.

If you need to know the first steps needed in order to take the exam, I suggest reading this post:

    http://www.blog.givemesomeenglish.com/the-most-important-thing-to-know-about-the-toefl-ibt-exam/

That should give you the necessary information to get started in the process.

If you still need more assistance, let me know (a bit more specifically) and I will be happy to help if I can.

I look forward to hearing from you again.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  43. Greetings Eyobe,

    Thank you for your message.

My apologies for not returning your message much sooner.

Unfortunately, I am not an authority on the Paper-Based test, so I do not have the information that you require – however, perhaps this link will give you the information that you need:

    http://www.ets.org/toefl/pbt/about?WT.ac=toeflhome_pbtabout_121127

If, however, you have decided to opt for the internet-based version of the exam. I have updated the Dates and Locations, and there is a link to take you to the registration there.

If there is anything else that I can help with, please let me know. I am always happy to help if I can.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  44. Hello Mekdes,

Thank you for the message. The Dates and Locations are now updated.

My apologies for any inconveniences that the page being out of date may have caused, but I hope that this information will be helpful for you.

Please let me know if there is anything else that I can help you with. If I can, I will.

    Have An Excellent Day,

    -C.

  45. Hello Samson,

    Thank you for the comment.

The Ethiopia page is now up-to-date as of today (July 12th, 2015.)

I hope that the information will be helpful for you.

I also hope that you noticed the message at the top of the page that gave a link to the ETS website, as that is the organization that creates and administers the exam.

I am simply working to provide a service to make the TOEFL easier for people, but as I am a single person also working a full-time job, it is sometimes hard to keep up with the updates and course creation.

However, I am doing my best to improve this website by keeping things updated more frequently, and by providing more helpful information. I appreciate your input.
